Spectral Line Shapes

[ADP-vol112]

Emphasis was given to the physical processes giving rise to spectral line profiles seen in adsorption, emission, and the scattering of radiation by plasmas and neutral gases. Also included are papers concerned with the coupling of collisional and radiative processes.

Line profiles are used in the study of fundamental atomic and molecular interactions and as a diagnostic tool for many media (gas discharges, flames, plasmas and astrophysical objects.) With tunable, high resolution lasers, fundamental spectroscopy and new diagnostic techniques have assumed forefront interest.
